Recruitment
We’re Looking…
For 2-3 folks to join us! Come to our recruitment audition on February 20 at Sparrow Studios!
When: Friday, February 20
Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Where: Sparrow Studios in the Clown Annex (207 Washington Street NE)
What to Expect:
Our audition process is hands on and interactive! You’ll have an opportunity to play short-form improv games with us and others auditioning.
Due to the space- be warned you may have to take off your shoes!
Read below for more information and answers to your questions!
-
Yes! During the recruitment event we will be playing classic improv games while getting to know each other!
Expect to play games that involve physical, environmental, and emotional acting rather than just talking.
-
It’s improv! Be prepared to “Yes, And” and be ready to have some fun!
We will explain each game before we play it and can answer any questions before we start. -
Not necessarily! Improv is built on one’s ability to accept the reality that’s been handed to them. This is what we call “Yes, And…”
So while improv experience may be helpful, it’s not required. We’re a pretty chill bunch and are more looking for folks with the ability to collaborate, actively listen, and effectively communicate.
-
Just your physical body, an open heart & mind, and a good attitude!
-
No way! improvOly is a “Brave Space” environment that values safety & comfort of all members, guests, and audience!
-
Our group culture is important to us! Read the “Code of Conduct” for a greater understanding of who we are, what we expect from each other, and how we want to work together.
We should also mention that we practice and perform on Wednesday evenings so being available then is crucial! -
Attendance is key to our success. All members are asked to make Wednesday evenings available for rehearsals and shows.
Our rehearsals are 90 minutes from 6:30-8pm.
The first Wednesday of every month we have a show or host an open rehearsal, both at WildChild. The time may vary a bit, but you can expect it to be from about 6-8:30.
We understand that life happens and a conflict comes up! However, if Wednesday night doesn’t work for you, this isn’t a good fit at this time. Please keep in touch and we’ll see what happens in the future! -
At this time, we rehearse from the comfort of one of our member’s home.
Just a head’s up- we also love our animals so be prepared to possibly be exposed to fur from one of our babies- kitty, dog, bunny, or iguana. -
We strive to be inclusive- it’s actually one of our core values!
If you have any questions or concerns, reach out and we’ll happy to answer them! -
Existing troupe members will need some time to evaluate all who audition. Our current timeline is to let people know in time to join our March 11 rehearsal.
